Kristen Smith
While attending East Carolina University I worked in the Human Performance Lab with overweight teenagers on a weight loss program. I fell in love with training because I was able to educate and help others live a healthy life. After graduating I moved to Wilmington and started working as a Personal Trainer at Gold’s Gym. Coaching and helping others is what I love to do. To help people reach their goals and to get closer to what they want is in itself very rewarding to me!
My mom and dad are both convinced I was born in the water. Swimming for most my life, I’ve become quite fond of the water. I was a competitive swimmer for 15 years, and have haven’t stopped yet. I feel more comfortable in the water than I do on land. However, four years ago I picked up running. Running is one of my biggest inspirations. It has not only challenged me both physically and mentally but given me the motivation and will power to keep trying and never give up. Four years ago I couldn’t even run two miles. I was out of breath, legs burning, dripping in sweat, and couldn’t believe that it had only been 18 minutes. So when others say running is tough, I KNOW! Well guess what… I wanted it, so after lots of work, and four years later, I’ve completed 4 marathons, 3 half-marathons, several 10K’s and 5K, and over 25 triathlons (1 Ironman, 4 Half-Ironmans).
Being able to work with all you guys has truly been a joy. Each one of you brings something different to the table, which makes us such a strong team. Remember guys, we’re without limits…
